The Texas Surf Museum is known as one of the top museums in the Corpus Christi area. Well, to make it even better, they offer Yoga Sundays. This way, you can unwind and get in some exercise in a different environment once a week, helping you relax and tone while meeting others in the community. Be sure to head out to this event this Sunday!
Time and Place
Attending Yoga Sundays is simple. It is located right in the Texas Surf Museum. You can’t miss it! Yoga begins at 3 p.m. every Sunday, and people of all levels are welcomed to attend.
There isn’t even a fee to participate. However, the museum does appreciate a donation to keep the program running. You get to choose how much to donate. Stay up to date on the details of the next yoga session by following the museum on social media.
Who Can Enjoy Yoga Sundays?
Anyone is welcome to attend the weekly yoga on Sundays at the museum. This yoga session is designed to appeal to beginners, advanced yogis, and everyone in between. They just ask that you bring your own mat, as the Texas Surf Museum doesn’t have any of its own. The events are typically organized by Island Yoga Time, which was the very first donation-based yoga studio to open on the island. As such, they have plenty of experience bringing yoga to those of all levels.
Explore the Museum Before or After
To make the most of your trip to the Texas Surf Museum for yoga on Sunday, be sure to actually explore the exhibits as well, either before or after. On Sundays, they are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (and every other day, they open at 11 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.) and are completely free to visit. You can find the museum at 309 N. Water Street, and it is worth checking out. Remember that the museum is completely free to visit. If you want to give back and support the museum, a donation of any size is very much appreciated. You can also become a member for a small annual fee and enjoy a reusable water bottle, online recognition, a discount in the museum store, and other freebies depending on your membership tier.
With a trip to the museum, you can learn about history related to surfing along with the specific history of the sport in the Lone Star State. Anyone with an interest in surfing or who has hit the waves before will love the museum. Even as a non-surfer, I find the exhibits incredibly interesting. You’ll find a surf film showing in the museum’s projection theater, a bench that is made from surfboards, and plenty of photos. The exhibits are always changing, and at the moment, you can explore “Texas Surf: Life Cycle of a Wave,” “Function of Fins,” or “Women Surfers of the Gulf Coast”.
