If you or anyone else you know has had to deal with mental health or a substance abuse problem, then you know how challenging it can be. These people have to work very hard to start leading normal lives again, which can have a huge impact on themselves, their family, and their friends. However, people recover every day, which is something to celebrate. That’s why so many people take part in the Addicted 2 Recovery 5K. This race allows you to get a great workout in while showing support for those who are recovering and who have recovered from mental health and substance abuse problems. If you want to show your support and do some running (or even walking!), make sure to sign up for this event. Learn more about what you can expect from it below.
Mark your calendars for this race now! It’s going to take place on Saturday, Aug. 31, and the race will begin promptly at 7 a.m. Make sure you set an alarm, so you can ensure that you’ll get there on time. The race both begins and ends at Oleander Point in Cole Park, which is right here in Corpus Christi. It’s one of the best and most iconic parks in the city, and it will provide runners with gorgeous views as they take on the track.
You will want to register as soon as possible for this 5K. Don’t wait until the day of the race. Adult registration costs $30, and registration for kids 12 years of age and younger costs $20. Bring the whole family out as a way to bond and get some exercise. Registering online makes the process as simple and easy as possible, and you can pick up your registration packet in person on Friday, Aug. 23, at the Council on Alcohol + Drug Abuse’s Recovery Support Services building. Make sure you pick up your packet between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. When you register, you’ll receive a special T-shirt and a swag bag full of cool prizes. And if you manage to finish the race, you will even get a finisher’s medal.
