Instructions

Step 1: Melt your wax flakes in your bain-marie. You will probably have to fill your candle jar twice with wax flakes to get to the required amount of wax. NOTE: If you don’t have a bain-marie, melt the wax in a glass bowl over boiling water. Don’t let the bowl touch the bottom; it can burn the wax.

Step 2: Once your wax has melted, pour it into a clean, clear glass bowl and set aside. NOTE: If you’re using a glass bowl, place it on a cooling rack.

Step 3: Let the cooling wax cool slightly and then add around 100 drops of the essential oils and stir. NOTE: Be sure to add the wax before it gets too hard.

Step 4: Take a candle adhesive button and place it in the center of the candle jar or tin, then press the metal part of the wick into the button. NOTE: This will help hold the wick in place while you pour the wax.

Step 5: Using a clothes peg, pin the wick upright and have the peg lay across the top of the jar or tin.

Step 6: Let your soy candles harden overnight. Once the candle has been set, you can cut the wick to the desired length. NOTE: Don’t try to speed up the hardening process by placing it in the refrigerator because it will cause cracks to occur in the wax.

Step 7: Enjoy!

If you don’t have a candle adhesive button, pour a little bit of wax into the bottom of the jar, place the metal part of the wick into the wax, and then use the same technique with the clothes peg until the wax hardens. Then pour the rest of the wax into the jar.
